Greetings, fellow luthiers!

I wanted to take this opportunity to let everyone know that I have taken control, once again, of the reins of power! (Un-elected of course- hey, I just realized that I share something in common with George W. Bush! )

Anyway Jay Gordon has agreed to stay on and help organize the shop meetings. Thanks Jay!

Folklife is coming up next weekend, May 26th thru 31st at the Seattle Center, and once again the Seattle Luthiers will be there. This year due to some changes in the Instrument Makers Emporium, there will be only a small club presence (adjacent to Dave Krause's table) but quite a few members will be displaying their work. So, please come by and say hello.

At the end of this e-mail is a short questionnaire about the shop meetings. Please take a minute, fill it out and send it back. We like to present meetings that will inspire you to come and take part. The only way we can do this is to know what you want to learn about. Also consider being a presenter. OK, I hear the groans about how " I'm not an expert, I can't do this." I just want to say some of the best presentations we've had, have been from non-experts who did at little research and showed their findings. Keep in mind that if it interests you, it will probably interest others as well.

As to our next meeting, Jay and I are going to our fallback plan of a "swap meet" meeting. We can hold it in my shop which is in S.E. Seattle (which is convenient for some of the southenders). It would be nice to have it in more central location. I would like to ask if anyone would like to host the meeting? I will send out the official announcement in another week.

I hope to see many of you at Folklife.

David Haxton

Questionnaire:

1. In the last 12 months which meeting/s have you enjoyed the most?

2. In the last 12months which meeting/s have you not liked?

3. What topics would you like to have presented in the future?

4. Would you be willing to host ( provide a space for the meeting) and or present for a meeting in the near future?
