Our guest this week will be Julius Borges from
Littleton, Mass. On

projection from his computer (Mac) or utilizing
someone else's. Can anyone supply projection
equipment/screen for this meeting? Contact Cat @

More on Julius Borges and workshop courtesy from Cat:

Julius Borges has focused his guitarmaking efforts on
replicating the instruments of the late 1920's and
early 1930's. He has gone so far
as to reproduce the grafted headstock joint used on
Martin Guitars until 1916. (Julius, just last week,
went to meet with the R&D dept. at Martin as a
consultant to help them reproduce this headstock
joint!) His guitars are constructed with red spruce
braces, hot hide glue and hand fit dovetails for the
neck to body joint.

He recommends hot hide glue for a number of reasons,
which he will be explaining at the Friday workshop. He
will be demonstrating his techniques for glueing on a
bridge and a neck with hide glue.
Borges draws on his varied background; musician,
guitar
repairman,furniture restorer and cabinetmaker
(including his journeyman's certification in
architectural millwork) to offer guitarists a truly
traditional instrument.

Directions to Michael Gurian's shop for Tuesday
meeting:

Michael's barge is located just east of the Ballard
locks. Access is thru shipyard gate about 100 yards
east of the parking lot for the locks. Turn left
after entering shipyard gate and proceed straight back
towards something that looks like a floating building!
If lost call Michael at 206-467-7990.

As always guests and guitars and other stringed
instruments welcome!

See you there;

Robb
