[Seattle Luthiers Group Notice] May Meeting of the SLG

David Haxton dhaxton at seanet.com
Tue May 1 19:47:55 MDT 2007

May 8, 7-9 pm. We'll meet at the new shop of Cat Fox and Rick Davis,
118 North 35th Street, Fremont, Center of the (Lutherie) Universe.
The shop is accessible from both 35th Street (just east of First Ave)
and the alley between 35th and 36th. It's behind Condor Electronics
and Chilis Paste Thai restaurant.
Cat is well known to Seattle area luthiers and stringed instrument
players. She's been repairing, restoring, and reviving all manner of
stringed instruments since 1982 -- and for her 25th anniversary in
the business, she imported Rick from Vermont to help establish a new
center of instrument repair and construction and lutherie education.
Rick is also known as Running Dog Guitars. He's the past Director of
A.S.I.A., occasional contributor to Fretboard Journal, and the
protagonist of Tim Brookes' book, "Guitar: An American Life." You may
recognize him from his pictures in the Post Office following that
unfortunate incident in South Dakota.
The meeting is informal, with trivial and annoying interruptions in
the evening's proceedings by Cat and Rick, who will explain more than
you ever wanted to know about stringed instrument repair and
construction. Please do not bring recording devices either audio or
visual -- no permanent record of this meeting admissible in court
will be permitted. Any instruments or materials brought to the
meeting will be destroyed in novel and entertaining ways.
